Carolyn’s method, developed over years of yoga training with the Iyengar family and other senior teachers and informed by her deep study of Buddhism, incorporates inner activity in asanas to promote greater awareness of mind, breath and body.

Carolyn began practicing yoga and studying Buddhism while living in Thailand, where she served in the Peace Corps (1987 to 1989). On her way home from Thailand, Carolyn traveled to India to learn more about the land in which both Buddhism and yoga originated. In 1989, when she returned to San Francisco, she started studying at the Iyengar Yoga Institute. In 1995, Carolyn went back to India to study with BKS, Geeta and Prashant Iyengar. She returns regularly to meet with her Indian teachers.

In the the United States, Carolyn studied primarily with Mary Dunn and Patricia Walden and continues to study Gabriella Giubilaro in Italy (via zoom).

Carolyn has been teaching at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York since 1995. She is certified as a Senior Intermediate 1/level 3 Iyengar Yoga instructor.
